me and my friends have all agreed that it'd be amazing if folders got added into dndbeyond to help organise created player characters and non-player characters separately

This has been noted as something on the road map, though is not in development yet as far as the Trello board shows.

However, if you are using Chrome you can get the Beyond Help extension, which adds folders.
