Yep, it's been yet another year and it still seems like they're spending all their time working on their ridiculous vanity dice roller than actually improving the tool itself. There are many small but crucial features still missing.
Alright, look, I get that coaxing wealthy users to spend tons of money on vanity digital dice sets helps pay for development. And they have invested in the Encounter builder & such features for DMs. But for bread & butter users of the primary tool -- and especially those of us with any homebrew ambitions -- it's been a long dark winter.
Is there a way to submit a crowd funding request to sponsor this? I realize that the company has to run their business and obviously this hasn't hit the threshold needed for returns on investment but perhaps there's a way to bump the funding route?
1) It can already be done with custom feats so this should have mimiviral development time as it would be a reapplication of an already present feature
2) Many of us who create homebrew items and pay subscriptions would love to see this implemented.
Yea honestly if there is a fun somewhere that I could just put in some money, that the moment it hits, for example, 1k the feature becomes promised to the community within x time or everyone is refunded their contribution, that would be nice.
It's so terribly frustrating that we have no way to influence what this otherwise useful website provides.
The moment I have more free time on my hands guess I'll just have to start developing a competitive platform...
Coming up on the 3 year mark for this request. Any plans for a party?
Joking aside, I've come up against this issue so many times. Love so many aspects of this site, but homebrewing is so often an exercise in frustration.
Does anyone know the script to write in order for a homebrew weapon to have a spell triggered upon a nat 20 on an attack roll? Or am I asking for too much and should just leave it in the notes?
Using my very minute knowledge of coding, if it could be developed to recognize a 20 and automate xrit damage, then it may be possible for that to trigger other automations.
It could be done. I fail to see great reasons why. If it's doing the effect for "free" then it's just up to the player to execute the behavior instead of going through the hassle of adding a function like this. If DnDBeyond had tabletop mode of some kind then there is much more reason to do such a thing. Asking all the relevant players to start making their saves and or applying the damage dealt to targets affected.
I would also like to point out that this feature request is a whole other thing then for what this topic is. So this discussion is rather off-topic. I would suggest creating a new topic for your suggestion.
I understand where the confusion might be, but I'm afraid I agree that the question of scripting actions to occur doesn't really fit in this topic for the reason that this topic refers to adding "Actions" (keyword) within the d&d beyond interface -- you're asking to add "actions" (generic things which occur in the universe) based on some trigger.
Its a perfectly valid request! But I think your request won't end up getting the attention it deserves unless you create it as its own forum topic, rather than as a comment on this old, slightly-related one.
Homebrew hasn't really been a priority for DDB for the past few years now, so bumping threads like this is really the only way to keep our requests front and center. Heck, he could just be new to the topic and wanted clarification.
In fact, it's my view that everyone should feel free to comment on this post regularly, even if only to "bump" -- one can hope that given enough activity the company might actually, someday, eventually, unexpectedly, on a blue moon that aligns with Mercury and Saturn, notice the spike and remember their homebrew fans.
Is DDB Hiring? How do I apply? I have some experience with a few scripting languages and a lot of web dev experience. I'll literally fix it myself. They need someone assigned to this. Assigned to all of the ancient requests on this site to just plow through them and get it done already. It would make so many long-time users ecstatic.

We continue to wait for arguably the most powerful feature...
Please?

Literally sad its been this long.

I don't believe that's possible to automate.
Using my very minute knowledge of coding, if it could be developed to recognize a 20 and automate xrit damage, then it may be possible for that to trigger other automations.
Maybe something to wish for in the future?

Can we please get an update on this?
