DDB got the maps as raw/original images from WotC so they can't edit them
Do you mean can't as in not allowed through licensing?
I'd be very curious about the way the licence would prevent them from resampling images. Given that they probably already do so for all the artwork, albeit for different purposes (in-page display vs full display).

Can't as in they upload what they are given. They've said in various other posts that they only distribute what WotC gives them, warts and all. There are, for example, un-errata'd typos that are left as-is because that's how they (still) are in the published material.
It'd be fair to assume that DDB's license doesn't allow them to modify WotC content.
Resampling and resizing is not the same as editing them to remove or change grids.
Even so, I guess what I meant to suggest wasn't entirely clear, because what I meant is exactly resampling the images. That is, resample them in such a way that the grids are actually square again and preferably have an integer number of pixels on each side.
I mean, I can do this myself and I have, but it would be nice if I didn't have to. Oh well.

That would involve modifying the image which DDB aren't allowed to do per license. When you click the full size image, you are getting the file WotC provided.
Is it possible for you guys to edit gridded-map images to make the grid cells square with sides of integer pixel length?
I have been using the maps from CoS in MapTools for my campaign and it has been a bit annoying to overlay the grid.

I agree, but that would need to be directed at WotC.

Alright, I did not know that first bit, thanks.
