Spellbook At 1st level, you have a spellbook containing six 1st-level wizard spells of your choice. Your spellbook is the repository of the wizard spells you know, except your cantrips, which are fixed in your mind.
Learning Spells of 1st Level and Higher Each time you gain a wizard level, you can add two wizard spells of your choice to your spellbook for free. Each of these spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots, as shown on the Wizard table. On your adventures, you might find other spells that you can add to your spellbook (see the “Your Spellbook” sidebar).
I expect to be able to "Learn" six first level spells and add them to my spellbook as a 1st level Wizard. And eight first level spells as a 2nd level Wizard.
In the character builder's spells area for a Lvl 2 Wizard https://d.pr/v/8NVHSY, you'll notice only 5 Learned Spells (5 Prepared). And there is no way for to "Learn" additional spells so they get added to the spellbook. The buttons to learn another spell are disabled
However, from the spell area on the character sheet, I can "Learn" more spells: https://d.pr/i/G4kxyG
Is this discrepancy between the back-end and front-end for learning spells intended behavior?
I may be missing something, here, so apologies in advance.
Wizards can actually "learn" all wizard spells. In DDB, it doesn't limit you to the amount of spells in your spellbook. That's something the player/DM imposes upon you if you're playing by the written rules. If you need your character to learn more spells, just add them in until you have the number learned you want/are supposed to.
If you're talking about prepared spells, it's going to be Int mod + Wiz lvl. So, you can prepare 2 (lvl) + 3 (Int Mod) = 5.
So, from what I can tell, the character sheet is correct.
Thanks Akacen, I think you're right and adding that screenshot was a mistake. Went ahead and updated the original post. The screenshot showed prepared spells but the issue I am experiencing is with adding "Learned" spells to my characters spellbook; specifically from the character builder's spells area. Let me try a second time:

Sorry to bring back such an old topic, but it was the first one to come up when searching. I'm having the same issue. When creating a wizard it lets me choose my 3 cantrips, but only 4 of the 6 spells to learn (not to be confused with prepare. I still have to manually prepare my learned spells). On PC, it will not let me choose more. However, when I use the mobile app, I'm able to add them. So there is definitely a bug here that people seem to be unwilling to acknowledge.

Are you sure you're not getting the number of spells you know confused with the number you can prepare? A level 1 Wizard can prepare 4 spells at a time under 2024 rules, and the number is likely to also be 4 under 2014 rules.
I have a sheet for a lvl16 Wizard that cannot "learn" spells to add to the spellbook. Only the "prepare" button appears in the sheet builder and the character sheet itself. At that level 20 or more spells can be known, but there is no button to learn spells for some reason. Is this some kind of bug?

There are supposed to be two whole separate sections for these two things: an "Add Spells" section where all the spells are listed and each one has a "Learn" button you can click, and a "Spellbook" section where only the spells in your spellbook are listed and each one has a "Prepare" button you can click. Are you saying that the "Add Spells" section isn't there at all, or that it's there and showing a "Prepare" button instead of a "Learn" button?
You got it completely right, the Add Spells section (that would input new spells into the spellbook) for some reason has buttons beside it that say "Prepare" instead of "Learn." My best guess is that it is a bug displaying the incorrect button option? I keep checking to see if I missed a prerequisite in the character builder backend, but for both 2014 and 2024 rules with the correct options checked only the "Prepare" button appears in the Add Spells area. It's a head scratcher.

That does seem like a bug, and I remember there was a thread here a few days ago with someone else who had the same problem, but it just went away after a while? I couldn't get it to happen myself, but you're definitely not alone
The funniest part is you can click the incorrect "Prepare" button and after a while the spell is "Learned" and will populate the spellbook and be preparable. But it is alarming initially to see it while adding new spells. For now I can still use this character sheet, but I wonder if this mix-up will get fixed at some point? Thanks for responding!

I was just going to ask about that, so it actually does add the spell properly, it's just that the label on the button is wrong? That's weird but at least it's functional.

I was able to make a wizard and learn more than 6 spells in the character builder, I didn't encounter a limit on the number of spells I could learn.

Sounds like a potential bug then, since I can not.
Those are Cantrips that are greyed out. You should be able to learn 1st level or higher spells.
Thank you to everyone who helped me through this.
