The PBP forum has a few built in tags: Plublic, Private, Recruiting, etc...
Few of the people that create posts in the forums know how to remove those tags after the fact. And I'm guessing that of those that do, many forget or don't care to keep their tags updated.
My problem is I'm looking for new games that are recruiting and have to sort through a lot of noise. I filter by Recruiting and I find pages and pages of threads that are not actually recruiting. They are either old and dead, or the PBP campaign launched in the same recruitment thread and the Recruiting tag was never removed.
My request: Make the Recruiting tag active for a limited time. Say a week? After that, the tag gets removed automatically. If the OP wants the tag back, they can re-enable it for another week at a time. This would make my daily perusal of the PBP forum, filtered by 'Recruiting' much quicker.
And as a bonus, can you move (or duplicate) the filtering drop down box to the top of the forum? It irks me to have to scroll down to the bottom to get access to it.
you know you can sort by descending dates ! that means you can actually see the dates of the thread, i always expect the first 2 pages to be actually recruting, but never goes beyond the second page, because usually after that we're seeign recruting threads that have been there more then a month.
i don't see that feature a requirement nor a necessicty considering we can already filter by dates. just because of that, i don't think the feature is necessary because its kinda already there.

I have no idea what sorting feature you are talking about. Does it work on mobile? (I am on mobile 99.9% of the time. Only not when I am DMing).
Right now, today, if you filter by 'RECRUITING', there are 15 pages of results at 15 threads per page (for me), so 225 flagged threads total.
Of those, there are only 11 that are less than a week old.
I fail to see how useful the tag is if you have to jump through hoops (click on 'TOPIC' twice to sort descending) and then take the time to figure out if a thread is dead or not. Not to mention that some DM's re-open original recruiting threads when they need to refill their ranks, so the original create date can be months if not years old.
Being able to filter by 'RECRUITING' and see that there are 11 'active' recruiting threads is useful for me, regardless of whether the active thread is 1 minute old or a 6 month old thread that has been reactivated.

Honestly not a bad idea, but probably a lot of work to implement.
The forums don't have a lot of automated systems.
The notifications you get to subscribed threads are an automated system.
Nothing is impossible.
I meant able to change automatically. So far it only has simple if/then type automation. Nothing as complicated as tracking time.
