So I just purchased access to the Artificer class from the Eberron book a la carte, as we are permitted to do. Was reading through the class, enjoying myself, thinking of ways I could brew with it. I read through the Battle Smith subclass, fInd it very intriguing, and wanted to look up the stats of the steel defender that comes part-and-parcel with the subclass. Lo and behold, the stats for the 'monster' are still locked in the Eberron content that I haven't purchased yet. Going back to the marketplace, it's not even available to be purchased as a single item -- it simply doesn't exist in the list.
Frankly, considering that the steel defender is part of the main utility of the Battle Smith subclass, I'd expect that the stats should be included with any purchase of that subclass -- practically no one else even has access to it, so why wouldn't it be included? Stats for the homunculus are included with the rest of the Artificer class, as one of the major utilities the class can access, so the precedent is already set within the same class. There are still over 40 other monster stat blocks that come in the Eberron book that can be purchased otherwise, so adding one to the Battle Smith subclass -- one that can't even be purchased a la carte anyway -- would hardly impact sales.
I hope the Beyond team sees this and adds the steel defender stats to the Artificer Battle Smith entry so that people who want to use it actually understand what it can do, instead of just guessing. I really like this site and the service it provides but the omission of such a integral part of a subclass seems quite silly.
I agree, that is strange. The Iron Defender in the UA had its stats listed in the class features section. It might just be an oversight for the time being. Hopefully they fix it.

They're working on a fix to ensure battlesmith purchases include the steel defender
