I have been recently playing a Paladin, and I was wanting to use my Smite ability. I know that Divine Smite it not a spell, but since it utilizes spell slots, it would be helpful to track it/list it on D&D Beyond like a spell in the spell slot section. You could make the text a little different so that it distinguished differently from a regular spell. Any thoughts?
Yes, it is, but the point is you have to go to one part of your sheet to see what the ability does, then another part to actually track it, when most other abilities let you do both on the same view.
The post isn't saying you can't do it, just that there are better, superior UX ways to do it.
D&D Beyond Feedback Team,
I have been recently playing a Paladin, and I was wanting to use my Smite ability. I know that Divine Smite it not a spell, but since it utilizes spell slots, it would be helpful to track it/list it on D&D Beyond like a spell in the spell slot section. They generally avoid the whole "It's not technically but kinda is" blurring of the lines between features.
I think a better solution would be putting an option within the smite feature to use a spellslot from there.

I second this. It will be a while before there is an opportunity for them to add this, but I hope they do.
This is as simple as checking off your spell slots as you use them for Smite.
Lightning Strike - A rebranded Fire Bolt for Wizards & Sorcerers.
Spirit Bomb - A holy fireball for Clerics, Paladins, & Divine Soul Sorcerers!
Sword Dancer - A Cleric subclass specifically for the Drow goddess Eilistraee.
Quicksilver & The Scarlet Witch - A pair of magical firearms for your Gunslinger or Artificer.
Yes, it is, but the point is you have to go to one part of your sheet to see what the ability does, then another part to actually track it, when most other abilities let you do both on the same view.
