Is there any way to select your arcane firearm the same way you select items for infusions? and once selected the bonus d8 dmg will show up on your available attack spells (the same way the item shows up as attunable if the infusion requires it)?
No. They could probably work in a way of selecting an arcane firearm the same as an infusion, but it wouldn't have any modifiers.
The feature does not add a flat 1d8 to a specific damage roll, the player need to choose which damage roll (if the spell has multiple) to add the damage to. So they wouldn't be able to code this.
Also, weirdly the feature isn't worded to add 1d8 damage, you roll a d8 separately then add the result (not the die) to the damage.
This is my only complaint with my character sheet, I can't select item is going to be my firearm. Same goes for selecting a wand I have as an improved focus.

If you mean the infusion, you can select a wand for that.
just make sure you arent trying to select an item that is magical, infusions are for non magic items, and as said above, can be selected when you access the information on the infusion.

What I did was just add a mundane focus to my inventory, and then rename it tinker's tools, and then override the cost and weight. Now I have an item I'm my inventory that i can add the infusion to.

Tinker's tools aren't arcane focuses, but if the DM allowed it, that is a work around.

They are arcane focuses for Artificers.
This is just a few of the reasons why the Artificer sheet on D&D Beyond is slightly annoying to use.
they should just make it like the pact weapon where you can equip it or just make a separate item or a feature the just adds a d8 to the roll
