Just got into the beta and so far it feels good. A few UX points I think that need addressing:
1. On the compendium home screen, which is currently the basic rules landing page, we are presenting with unordered lists of content. Although quite obvious that these are clickable as there are no other calls to action on the page, it would be better to style these links to set them apart from other unordered lists on the site. You already have a text link visible on this page ('...provided in the SRD5.1,...') so you should style them the same as that. I usually have my links in bold and underlined, so the user is sure that these are clickable.
2. On small screens, these have quite a small hit area (where the finger taps the link), so can get quite fiddly when presented with many options.
3, I understand that this is still in beta and that there will be changes to these pages but, for each of the rules pages there is a lot of reading to be done. And that's fair, however, I would take advantage of all the lovely pictures you have in the print versions of the rule book's to break up the reading. That's just a nice to have. Also, in the future, I would see how this amount of reading tests. I reckon you would need to adjust the leading and make the font a little larger for the eye to scan the page. It can get quite lethargic reading all that content in one sitting but you also want to accommodate users who just want to dip in and out.
It would be fascinating to see how you test this in a controlled environment. If you do, please share your findings, hopefully in a blog post ;)
I haven't had a full-on run through yet, but I will leave more as and when I find them.
