Although partly due to the atrocious font used for these handouts, another big reason why these are almost unreadable is the very low resolution of the images. I think few people would disagree that it would be mostly appreciated if these could be upgraded to make them easier to read.

Those are image assets which, as with other such assets, are provided at the highest resolution WotC provides. DDB can't provide 'new' assets, which would presumably include upgrading these, such as changing the fonts.
I wouldn't deny that the font is hard on the eyes, but I expect DDB's hands are tied in this regard.
