This is gonna be kind of a niche request, I think.
Say I wanted to play a warlock whose main ability score was intelligence instead of charisma, or a paladin based on wisdom, or a charisma-based eldritch knight. Obviously in DDB, I can't do that currently, but I was curious if there was any feasibility to adding a "casting ability score" option to character creation? I realize it's probably not a common request or scenario, so I don't expect to see it anytime soon, but I thought I'd suggest the idea.
Just want to say this is a good request. Crawford has specifically said that INT based warlocks make sense and wouldn’t hurt balance, so supporting scenarios like that with DNDB would be a nice improvement.
im running a warlock right now for whom that would make so much more sense that CHA, but dealing with all the complexities of using an INT warlock on DNDB is reason enough to settle for CHA.

D&D player going back to the 90s with 2e and 3e. Didn't play for years and ended up skipping 3.5e and 4e entirely. Very excited about the openness and clarity of 5e.
Experiences DMing were mostly misadventures back in the day, but trying to be ready to be a decent DM now that my wisdom has gone up a bit.
My current warlock uses intelligence with a custom magic item to make that work, and while that works fine, I still think it would be nice to see it supported officially! I have to keep adjusting the item when her intelligence goes up.
Interesting! So I guess it's just a weapon that gives +CHA and you manually control it to match your INT?
Seems like there might be some side effects to that? Curious how it works!

It's just a generic wondrous item with no attunement requirement I called "Intelligence," and when it's equipped, it gives her a bonus to her spell attacks and spell save DC equal to the difference between her Intelligence and Charisma modifiers. Her Charisma is 16 and her Intelligence is 18, so it gives her a +1 bonus to attacks and DC, so the sheet calculates those totals as if it was using her Intelligence in the first place. If I bump it to 20 later on, I'll have to go in, edit the item, and make those bonuses +2 instead.
I also manually exchanged her proficiency in Charisma saves for Intelligence saves to match, but that's just something you can do in the sheet itself now!
Cool! Thanks for the info, hopefully it can help anyone else who stumbles in here 🙏🏻

This solution doesn't work for things like Agonizing blast (add charisma to eldritch blast damage) or the number of times you can use abilities where the calculation includes your charisma modifier, does it? Have you found a solution for that?
You can create a homebrew version of the subclass you want to play. On the first page you'll see a spell casting type and you can switch it from CHA to INT, which will change all your spells to use your INT score instead of your CHA score (and any saving throws you force). You would then have to go into any of the abilities that used your CHA modifier and switch it to your INT modifier. It's actually an easier process than it might seem, since you're copying the subclass and everything is already laid out properly for you. This will not do anything for eldritch invocations though, as we have no way to homebrew them yet.

Hello from the future!
I stumbled here and this information was very helpful,
Thanks!
There like a guide for this I’ve tried it but spells still use charisma
