it would be nice to be able to add custom notes to items the player currently has.
Example 1: a cleric player starts with a Amulet (Holy Symbol) for their god, and later acquires a Amulet (Holy Symbol) from a defeated foe. they want to take the new Amulet (Holy Symbol) with them so they can get it identified later. now they have 2 Amulet (Holy Symbol)'s without any details about them. now if they could add a custom note to each of the items, they can easily record the details on the items themselves.
the first amulet may have a note like: My holy symbol to Lathander, god of birth and renewal.
the second amulet could have a note like this when found: a holy symbol to an unknown deity; found on an assassin who tried to kill us on the Long road to Waterdeep.
and later could be updated to: a holy symbol to Myrkul, god of death; found on an assassin who tried to kill us on the Long road to Waterdeep; identified by our old friend Deckard Cain.
Example 2: a rogue who specialises in daggers and has a strong emotional bond to each and every one, could add a custom note to each giving its name and where/how it was acquired.
are we talking in the character sheet or when creating "homebrew" items? i cant find any way to rename an item in my inventory.
my suggestion was for the interactive character sheet inventory. i don't want to have to create a custom homebrew "magic" item every time i need to add some notes to an item.
if i am missing something big, and what i am asking is already in the system, would you be able to direct me on how to access these features, as i cant figure out how?
ok i found what you are talking about. it shows under customize for items you have in the attacks list.
if they could add the name and notes, under customize, for all items in your inventory, that would work great. seeing as this already exists for weapons, hopefully its not to much work to add it to all items and the inventory areas of the sheet.

Yeah, I was sad to find out that it didn't exist for items. Hopefully soon.
you can also use this with spells, if you add them to the attacks list you can modify the names/notes, and then remove them from the attack list, and they keep the changes. so we could hopefully get this added to that part of the sheet as well :)
This is a necessary feature for all items. In addition to the examples above, using DDB I only know my Deck of Illusion has 33/34 charges... but I have no idea which cards have been pulled and which are left. While a full-fledged select/unselect strikeout feature for this kind of item would be great and prevent future clunkiness in the notes, I assume a notes feature is easier to implement.
We should also be able to rename items, so ideally what I'm suggesting is a straight up edit feature like the competition has.

There is a notes field and you can rename items.

Sorry, it's only available for equipped weapons. Hopefully it comes for items too.
