As a Dungeon Master, I could see how this tool would come in handy. However, as a Dungeon Master to new players, sometimes they need an app that can easily create a character sheet so they can jump in the game without having to flip through the intimidating manual. If I pay for a subscription, will my players be able to access my account and make characters for our games? Im not sure that they would be willing to shell out the cash for a game they play casually with me every so often.
It would be interesting to have not a user account but a Party Account.

Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination. I will protect those who cannot protect themselves, I will protect even those I hate so long as it is right.
I have a feeling the answer to this is going to be no (unless they actually create a price point for this).
But that has never stopped people from sharing.
Sharing would be awkward now that your Twitch account is linked to the DnD Beyond unless you truly trust all of your players with your Twitch logon credentials. In person, having someone create and print the character using your account seems likely though.
I guess it just boils down to you not telling them you're doing it, and your players being trusted with your credentials.
What I think is that there's a free account thing where one can use the forms, knowledge, and few slots in the character sheet thing. However, for Homebrew content and More slots would be an upgrade.

Well I am not saying that you should share or if this services is even meant to BE shared... however if I WERE going to do that I would make a twitch account called DtotheD_Group or subsistcyber_Group :P and getting each member of your group to chip in 1/Xth the value of the account. Considering that there has not been a TOS released for Beyond yet I can't say if that would break the rules.

There are definitely easy ways around it. But has Curse already thought of this, or do they think linking the accounts to Twitch will prevent it? It'll be nice if they just embraced this (because it's going to happen) and instead allowed us to form "Parties" with one DnD Beyond member paying the bulk of the subscription fee.
Who knows, maybe they already have something along these lines intended.
I'd be interested in seeing something similar to how Roll20 handles it. If the DM has a subscription (or ownership or however it shakes out) then their players can freely import/export characters from their shared game. It makes it a little more palatable to players who only have a single game going on, while encouraging DMs or players with multiple DMs to support the cost of the service.

I don't have the source on hand, but I think this was confirmed in an interview. Makes sense, too - have a basic utility/SRD version with paid features as sub/micro, people are more likely to spend than if they need to buy the app outright.
There's plenty of models where the DM pays for the subscription, and then the players also have access to all the features. Roll20 and Obsidian Portal both come to mind.
I'd like to be able to add house rules to the homebrew section as well, and have that affect what my players have access to. If I'm using, say, SCAG, I'd like the players to be able to access that, but if I'm not I'd like to make it unavailable. I'd also like it if there was a way to fine tune this. In my homebrew, for instance, there are no half-breeds (half-orcs and half-elves don't exist.) I'd like to be able to disable those selections for the players.

Am I the only one who feels that giving my players access to just the SRD feels like making them buy the reference books if they want access to everything in the books/content I've already purchased?
They really need to get this information out ASAP. This online service, which people have been begging for since 5th edition's release, is already years late.
Well... this is an optional commodity for players. I'll never tell someone that he/she needs to dish out cash to play in my game. Even though it'll take more time, I'd rather recreate the character myself using the tools I subscribe to. If the player prefers pencil and paper, It'll just add converting the character over to my workload as a DM so that the game goes smoothly on playday.
If they all have to pay a higher subscription price to use my homebrew rules, classes, backgrounds, and races, I'll just have to do the character conversion for all of my players.
But... speculation on price points and Curse's plans is useless. We can only voice what we are willing to pay for, what players are willing to pay for, and what we'd like to see in the end.
I would like the idea of saving characters within Campaign modules
I'd definitely want to avoid locking characters to a module if possible, otherwise that could greatly complicate Adventurer's League play.
At this point, I'm imagining that each character sheet is "owned" by the player who created it, and they can just "share" it with the DM for the duration of a game.

That's a really cool idea. Being able to share your character's information on the fly so that if you're going to different DMs to play different modules, you won't have a very large hassle on your hands.

The team at DnDBeyond could probably introduce these DM like features and party accounts but you would probably have to use a separate subscription than most people cause I can come up with a couple ideas in my head how that could possibly be abused.

As a player (not DM) getting basic information is still a great asset, having to pay extra for added features I wouldn't mind as it would save buying new books
