One bug I found, and I’m sorry if this was already mentioned, but if your character is rolling death saving throws, any damage taken will not incur an automatic failed death saving throw.
I tested it on the website and on the app, and the website has it correct; any damage taken is an automatic failed death saving throw, while the app has it incorrect, and will not automatically fail a death saving throw.
Thank you so much for all of your suggestions and bug reports.
A few comments:
Spell descriptions - on our roadmap. Not the immediate one but very high. We are focusing on letting you edit as many critical items as possible now.
Character sorting - the same as for spell descriptions.
We are going to add more editable elements (offline HP, spell slots) very soon. It is likely that Conditions are going to remain editable only when you are online.
Unjustified multiple classes appearing in My Characters is recognised and is likely to be fixed soon. I can't give an ETA but we are working on a fix.
Looking forward to more of your feedback! Please remember we read each and every word of it. We also investigate every bug and try to squash it asap.
And, for a reminder:
If you received your Player App invite email and got an error when trying to download it from the Google Play Store, this is due to a pending update with Google. This is a temporary block that will be lifted soon!
We will resend your invite as soon as the pending review is approved and apologize for any inconvenience.
Just got the iOS app. Still poking around but first glitch I found was that, while I could edit HP, Temp HP and Conditions on most of my 14 characters, one character (4th on the APP list, but further down on the website list) would not appear to save the changes. I would see the Conditions checked, swipe down to close, and they would not be there. I could edit HP, but as soon as I switched to the character list and back they were reset.
Checking vs the website I noticed that the characters which accepted changes had those changes reflected on the website. The one character that didn't accept them did not.
I made changes on the website for that one character, and those changes were reflected on the character in the app. And after I did that, i was able to make lasting chnages to HP, Temp HP and conditions.
I suspect the linkage to the backend was not correct/corrupted for that character, so updates were not being accepted, but once I made changes in the website that forced the app version to refresh the link and changes are now being pushed to the backend.
I agree that character filtering (and/or favorite-ing) is pretty critical. I have 37 characters on my account at the moment, and it's pretty tricky to find any of them. Assuming this will come soon, but just wanted to make a note.
The equipment page shows my weight carried, and that I'm over my carrying capacity, but it would be nice if it showed what that carrying capacity was.
It would be nice if a character's extra senses (like Darkvision) were formatted more nicely. This is kind of a minor gripe, but it seems like it's just unformatted text thrown at the bottom, which means it doesn't look anywhere near as nice as the rest of the app.
I'm not sure that keeping the spell save DC/to-hit/bonus "sticky' to the top of the screen makes sense, given that they're in the columns for each individual spell. This would be a real mess if you had multiple casting sources (e.g. Int/Cha or something similar).
All in all, really stoked for how great it's looking so far! Navigation seems a bit... weird? But working fine for now.
I’m on mobile (go figure), so I don’t know how to upload a picture of it, but I have a character in my character selection that has a laundry list of classes/subclasses, despite not multiclassing.
I *believe* that the cause of this was bouncing around with character ideas before finally committing to one, all the while using the one “character slot” to test the ideas. Regardless, it’s a bit amusing to see how many ideas I tried out - but I don’t think it’s an intentional thing!
Today we released v0.6 with the following capabilities:
Modify HP when you are online
Modify conditions and exhaustion when you are online
Support for infused items
Lots of bugfixes and minor improvements - some of the reported issues may still be there but we are going to squash them asap
iOS users should receive the update shortly. For Android, we are waiting for Google to process/review it. I will keep you posted.
We hope you are going to like it and we are looking forward to your feedback.
Last but not least, we are planning to re-initiate roll-out today. The final group of users is going to receive their builds early next week.
I have an Android. I downloaded the app at the start. I do not see any update for my app yet. I am currently still unable to edit hit points online or offline. I assume that is because of the Google process/review. This is my first time doing an alpha test for an app. When Google gets the process/review done will the app on my phone be able to just install the update or will i need to uninstall and download again?
I love the look and feel of this, I find that on a smaller device like a phone it is highly legible. I’m currently testing on a phone and on a tablet and am impressed so far. One thing I would love to see: condition impacts. If I am restrained and mark that condition it would be nice to see my movement drop to 0 or exhausted and see disadvantage marked. This would be helpful to players and dms alike as it prevents constantly having to relook up the condition.
Thank you so much for all of your suggestions and bug reports.

Please may I ask what percentage of invites have now been sent out?
I only ask as my friend, who I told about the sign up and signed up after me, has received his invite but I, as yet, have not.
Appreciate they may be going out in waves but just want some assurance I guess that invites haven't been missed out as things do break occasionally! Thanks :)
I got the invite for the Android version, and I'm excited to test that out once the approval thing gets sorted. It just occurred to me that thanks to WFH I also have a couple iPad Pros and iPad Air 2s on hand that I could use for testing as well. Would I need to resubmit the signup form to get access to the iOS/iPadOS version as well?

If your company takes back those apple products when this is done do you want that tech guy to possibly have access to some of your personal data like your twitch account which has to be linked to the app?
FYI software resets may or may not actually delete data. Some of them just tell the display to ignore the data and lets new things overwrite the old data not being used. If you just reset it and hand it over it may be possible to recover data that has not been overwritten. This is why things like the DoD have regulations like multiple overwrites coupled with complete physical destruction before they say removable media is safe to be disposed of.

1. I have encountered some strange sync issues with HP and conditions that were mentioned by two other posts before I think. This happened only once to me so far, both issues at the same time.
HP: I was able to change HP in the app, but the changes were not visible on the website. Going back to character overview and back again into the character, the HP were back at the old value before I changed them.
Conditions: I was able to select / unselect conditions, but when I closed it, the changes were not applied. (I did not try exhaustion at that point though)
Before that happened, I tried offline mode for a minute, but I think I went back online before I opened the character. However, refreshing the character by pulling down the view seemed to fix it, and now they work as expected. Seems like it could be an authentication issue...?
2. I know that there are currently wrong classes shown in the character overview. It might be the same issue, but I have one character where the same class is shown twice, even missing an empty space between them. You can find the screenshot here: https://1drv.ms/u/s!Asa5WeSnnf0rjuduEavNJIUEpAyi_g?e=tbOsh6
3. Unlike in the browser, in the app I can still access the spells page if the character doesn't have the ability to cast spells (I tested it with a fighter/battle master).
4. I don't know what plans you have for syncing characters, but here's an idea: In the character list, an indicator could show the sync status of the characters in online mode to distinguish between: - is not available in offline mode - is available in offline mode but is not up-to-date - is up-to-date In offline mode, it could simply show which characters are available. Additionally, an option for auto-syncing some or all characters would be nice.
5. I assume that eventually all descriptions that are currently available in the browser will be available in the app? (Conditions, spells, items, features, ...)
I'm so looking forward to using the app in a game as soon as the most critical features are implemented.
Just +1 for swiping through different sections of the character sheets. Having to tap and choose the section you want for every change is a little cumbersome, and swiping would be both intuitive and in line with some other character sheet apps that people are likely to be familiar with on mobile.
Thank you! That's really useful.
Also, there are asterisks in the effects of some of the spells, and I have no idea what they mean.
Thank you so much for all of your suggestions and bug reports.

Going to add my first few impressions as well:

@Devolnu All you need to do is press press update wheb the new version is released on the playstore (Unless DDB does alpha Diffrent than other devs)

Still no invite, and I signed up as soon as it was announced ... 😔
Same. (Bad) Luck of the draw, I guess. 😥

I am the tech guy in this example.
First of all, thanks for the invite.

so far, the first things I noticed that would be good to have in future versions:
