@daf_dafydd What is the EoL of the player companion app/When your devs will stop to push frequent updates for that app? Will be the lifetime before it is orphaned by your development also less than 2 years?

You're asking this about an app that isn't even out of ALPHA and released to the general public yet?

On a site that has been launched 3 years ago, and since then it's been continuously improving its features...
On a site which released their first companion app to read the content - also offline - on March 23rd 2018 but did not do any real further development beside hotfixes. Nov 2018 they brought offline listings that was basically everything considered feature release.
You can bring out Alphas, Betas or MVPs but then you should follow a proper approach of continuously improving the app.
Bookmarks in an app which is made for reading content not working properly. Navigation not working properly. Search is not working properly.
So I ask, why they start developing a new app for players, if they failed with their first one.
At the end we will have 2 orphaned apps, which do not work properly instead of one optimized responsive web layout for mobile devices once (or fixing their apps)

I understand your frustration; however how I see is that the team (which is not a big development company with unlimited resources) is trying their best. The reader app, albeit have some issues, in general can be used for its base purpose; and there was a very big pressure from a lot of frustrated people to start working on the player app that works on a phone even offline - which an "optimized web layout for mobile devices" would not be able to do; meanwhile they were working on refactoring the whole internal infrastructure of the website (which, if done well, is not visible for the end user at all). You say the first app failed, but I don't see how that can be true - the app can be used to read the content you unlocked offline; it has filterable listings of races, classes, spells and items, and it's far from being orphaned; but there's only so much a small team can do, especially these days. And the main focus was always the site, which does continuously get upgraded - and then Wizards releases a new book that adds a totally new feature that needs to be implemented and integrated to the existing process.

There’s a few problems I have with the app but it’s nothing as big as you make it out to be. The app still works to 90% perfection. There’s a problem here or there that need to be addressed (and I’ve even made posts about but nobody seems to have seen them) but it’s nothing broken. The other thing is like was already said the massive pressure for a player app basically made them take the team to that because it’s what fans want the most. I agree the problems I’ve posted about and others have made their own posts should be fixed and the app should be improved but it isn’t what the huge majority of people wanted them to focus on so they stopped doing such. Blame them really since their team isn’t that big they don’t have the ability to focus on both at the same time.
Which means, as soon the community pushes for something else, they will orphan this app, too. : / Can only speak for IOS, the app is somewhat usable, but it was released before it reached the MVP status.

They’re definitely not going to abandon one of the most requested things that players want but I can’t convince you otherwise I would guess
Forgive me if I've missed it, but are there ever any plans to be able to manage spells from within the app? I can mark slots, but actually managing prepared spells is what I'm asking about.
Also my HP issues have persisted, where the app accepts the first change I make to my HP, but if I make another change, like healing a second time or taking damage a second time, the number won't stick. It resets if I close the app. I know I can't really lodge this as an issue until I get screen shots up, just wanted to have it noted that the updates haven't fixed the problem. Also my conditions tab still disappears after I have selected a condition, and it never comes back. I am not yet sure if this is a normal bug, or an accessibility bug induced by using a screen reader on my phone. Again, will get screenshots up as soon as my life calms down, just want these things on record.

There are plans to have access to practically everything you can do from the website; but features are phased in one by one (or in twos) cause it's way more efficient to test and develop that way.

Well, yes, sorry, I should have been more specific. I know many things will happen *eventually*, was more wondering if this was on any sort of near horizon. I'm selfishly curious because, after creating my first caster last night, I realized that using a screen reader on my computer, I can't access the page to manage my spells. So I'm hoping to be able to eventually use the app as a work-around to that.
Do any of the changes mentioned in the recent Character Sheet Changelog affect the Player App alpha we're testing?
As far as I am aware the app and the web frontend are separate - the data is the same but the visuals are different; the only thing affecting the app might be the homebrew spell selection for paladins and clerics, as that is possibly a backend fix. Maybe the wildshape too.

This is probably somewhere in the threads but, having the spell descriptions, or having their selection open the spell in the Beyond Sourcebooks app would be helpful

I don't know if it has been mentioned before, but a way to toggle inspiration would be nice

:) Nah you can't. I pocketed this page. So I will come back in a year :)

I presume not until at least the core functionality is fully finished - currently there are sections that are still "coming soon".
