This is probably somewhere in the threads but, having the spell descriptions, or having their selection open the spell in the Beyond Sourcebooks app would be helpful
It's on the todo list.

I agree! I’ve been using this app, but have to go to the web site for any info on spells. At higher levels, it’s impossible to know every detail as spells become more complex.
Navigation is very simple, and being able to swipe between sections is a huge improvement over previous versions. It feels a lot quicker than the web app, too; perhaps in part because it removes the icons that appears between swipes on the web app?
The dark color scheme works well, but I'd honestly prefer something lighter.
One usability issue, though, is the +/- counters for things like Lay on Hands or Eldritch Cannon. After every click, it stops and loads for a couple seconds before you can click again, so you can only change it by 1 every time. Makes it rather irritating when you need to adjust by double-digits.
Overall, looks great, though! Thanks for the hard work!

Yeah. Good point. I just tested it myself.
I assume that it checks and updates the database every time. It should cache those changes and do it in the background.

I assume that the plan would eventually be to use the native mode of your phone. So if your phone is in dark mode then it looks like it does now and vice versa. Obviously that’s just an assumption but it just makes sense so I think it’s a good one to make.

As far as I know the light theme is on the list, and hopefully it will be a simple setting (I don't think android phones have a dark mode anyway), and I hope the light theme will be out soon cause I can't look at the dark mode for long periods of time...

Android 10 does at the very least. I use it on my phone every day. There's even a toggle to make dark theme turn on at night and light on during the day automatically. Having support for that eventually would be awesome.

iOS and Android both have native dark and light modes that devs can take advantage of to have apps use the in setting choice or provide a toggle for manual switching in their apps. We'll just have to wait and see though. You're definitely in the minority that doesn't want dark mode but it's a group that does exist so I'm sure they'll get to it some time
Will this app ever be available in the windows store? I know most companies don't really care to cater to windows devices but with the surface pro and other surface devices becoming more popular these days it would really be nice to have access to these apps on my windows tablet while offline. I wouldn't worry about it all that much except for that when I go on deployment I don't often have access to the internet so it would be nice to have it all available offline.
You can download and Android emulator and run the app through that. I tried it on my Windows tablet and it seems to work fine. Not as quickly but does seem to work.

I believe Badeye has mentioned this on a Dev update question once where he said that there are no plans for it given that there is no demand for it. If enough people bring it up then maybe. But currently they mentioned that on the computer only online is planned.
First of all, a really good alpha version in my opinion. Both me and my girlfriend have used my tablet in to play Dnd, and after some testing here is our initial feedback:
- Make it possible in the future to use backgrounds, frames and themes you have unlocked in Dndbeyond in the player app as well. A part of what we love in DnDBeyond is to costumize the aesthetics to the character you are playing, wish this will be added to the player app at some point as well.
- Make it so that effects updates stats. For instance having a indicator that you have disadvantage on ability checks with level 1 exhaustion, or showing half movement speed at level 2 exhaustion.
- For spellcasters having to go back and forth between actions and spells is more tedious when you have to go through equipment as well. I think making it possible to costumize the order these come up could be a quality of life improvement.
- The text "proficiency bonus", "walking speed" and "Armor class" get strangely cut off in vertical mode (to: "Prof. Bon...", "Walking...", and "Armor Cl...") . Reducing the font size might be to tiny, but consider having better abrivations like "Proficiency", "Speed", and "AC" for instance.

You're on to something there. Definitely an easier method of changing weapon ticks in the equipment area such as a routine swapping out between bow and sword/dagger dual wield.
I normally leave all weapons as "wielded" so it is quicker in the actions tab to select the correct attack weapon combo etc, but with dual wielder feat that grants an AC bonus you don't want that ticked unless active, so it makes it a little tedious going back and forth.
Maybe a Fighting Style tag in the equipment section so you can tag preferred weapons per fighting style, eg;
Mounted: - Lance, Shield
Ranged:- Short bow
Dueling: - Rapier
Two Weapon: - Rapier, Dagger (Offhand)
Anything else manual equipment section clicking to select, but if one set of gear was set then it is just one click away from equipping that tick set.
Features and Traits: need to be able to manually add feats
Inventory: again need to be able to see descriptions and be able to edit.
Keep up the hard work!
And.... General note which I keep pushing: I want to be able to make mundane items!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You can manually add feats from the character sheet. Look under the Feats and Traits tab on the character sheet. At the bottom is a feature to manage feats.

Some of the characters I have made will display "no race selected" while scrolling through the character screen.
This happens with a few specific races: human variant, any of the "mark of ..." subraces, aasimar, tiefling, variant Eladrin elf, shifter, genasi and Pallid elf.
Once you click on the character, the race shows as intended
Apologies for keeping you wait for so long for any responses. It's been a hectic time recently.
are there ever any plans to be able to manage spells from within the app? on any sort of near horizon
We're doing our best to deliver it asap but there are so many features fighting for their place in the queue that I can't promise it is on the near horizon. But it is high on the list.
When is this going to open up for all subscribers ?
Unfortunately, this is impossible. Apps cannot be officially distributed outside of app stores while alpha/beta programmes have limited numbers of seats (10k seats per platform). We are doing our best to put the apps on the stores asap so that as many of you can download the app in a normal way.

I don't know if all of these have been mentioned, but I know some have:
1. More editing options in the app for offline use (being able to equip/unequip armor, weapons, and magic items.
2. In the same topic of items, being able to adjust the quantity and add/remove items from the inventory.
3. Cross-app integration. I use the D&D Beyond app for offline play with my sourcebooks so it would be nice to be able to correlate that with the Character Sheet.
4. Offline character updates. I think being able to level a character or create a new character completely offline would be fantastic. This sort of goes with the cross-app integration since the app could see what books you own and accurately limit what you can do while completely offline. Allowing us to add or remove spells, feats, invocations, etc.
5. More them options. I love the Dark because it is easy on the eyes, but being able to set up different themes or backgrounds for specific characters would be awesome.
6. Dice. I'm not saying the full digital dice experience like the website, but being able to select and roll dice (sans animation) would be extremely useful.
Of these 1-4 are the ones I hope to see by the time the app is fully released. 5 and 6 are just nice to have but not really needed for the full offline experience.
