My level 1 fighter and his companions were being transported to an unknown coastline in exile. In a small rowboat, under guard by two crossbowmen. A plesiosaur began circling us, and one guard fell overboard.
My fighter jumped off the back of the boat to save the guard.
The party was on a boat ride through the city, split into several small gondola-type boats. In the middle of the river, a water elemental appeared and started attacking.
Thoruk, the suspiciously-intelligent-for-being-so-thick barbarian, had no ranged weapons and wanted to help, so he managed to attract the water elementals attantion, coaxing it to slam the end of his boat. Just before it did, Thoruk leapt to the back of the boat, next to the ranger who just had long enough to say "I hate you" before the elemental hit, catapulting Thoruk, Xanphia and her pet Panther into the air. Thoruks plan worked, and he ploughed through the water elemental, performing an attack, and picking up the warhammer which had just been lost by another (new) party member, sucked into the elemental (I negotiated with the DM to sacrifice any attempt at landing well to grab the hammer).
The new guy, who had arrived in time for the fight but was unknown to the party at this point; turned up, attacked the elemental, lost his hammer, the elemental turned away, a half orc then came flying out of its back, handed him is warhammer back as he went past, and then crashed into a market stall, demolishing the side of a house!
Luckily I was angry at the time and hardly felt it!
Later that same combat, Thoruk used a magical sword (which threw anyone who touched it away violently) to launch himself at the elemental again!
Our first D&D game. I'm DMing, playing with my wife, 7 year old daughter, and a couple of co-workers. My daughter is playing an Elven bard. We are playing DoIP, and the party is in the dwarven temple, getting their asses smoked by the ochre jelly. My daughter hits it with a well-timed Thunderwave and kills it. Then, while everyone else goes to inspect the secret room, she curles up on the altar and takes a nap. When the other bard and cleric get nailed by the trapped necklace, she gets up, helps drag their unconscious bodies out of the secret room, revives them, and proceeds to lecture them on the importance of being well-rested.
In one group I DM'ed for, we were running HotDQ and the party had angered/alerted nearly the whole flying castle to their presence and intent, and had barricaded themselves into one of the areas of the castle using a pair of immovable rods while they dealt with enemies inside the area. By the time they did so, outside enemies had nearly destroyed the hinges of the door (the rods kept the door from opening in and the hinges kept them from opening out). Our warforged paladin downed a potion of giant strength and readied a kick on the door the moment the hinges were destroyed. I asked for a STR (athletics) check. They rolled a 20 + something like 11 between proficiency and the potions boost to STR, so I allowed him to kick the doors out, crushing 4 of the enemies attempting to break the hinges and clearing a path for the party to exit the area and spread out.
Same PC wound up killing the white dragon shortly thereafter as it performed a wing attack in an attempt to escape, he was the only one who weathered the attack and pumped his last spell slot in a divine smite on the Attack of Opportunity he took. Sure, the dragon immediately collapsed on him, but they pulled him out and revived him, and he had two pretty Bad@** moments in the same session.

My monk hit a bandit sentry with his quarterstaff so hard it decapitated the sentry.

nothing scarier than a full rage barbarian flying at your face
Nothing more confusing than a full rage barbarian flying at your face and politely handing you your weapon back as he passes XD
