If you look in the "bonepile", in the back there, you can catch a glimpse of some dice that are nearly as old as I am... (Cough, cough, 42 or something)
EDIT: I forgot I had some old Risk dice in there. A couple of those are getting close to 60 years old... *boggle*
My collection currently consists of just the polys from the Starter Set, (I am not flush with cash, at the moment) although I do have my eye on a set of lovely FATE dice, as well.
You can get Wiz Dice's Bag of Holding or Bag of Devouring for around $20 and it comes with a large number of complete sets. Chessex has a Pound o Dice that comes with random dice, and one complete set, but are typically factory seconds. (Which can result in some interesting color combinations) I'd recommend the Wiz Dice Bag of Devouring if you need lots of dice cheap.
Dice from/for specific games - FF Star Wars, Old WoD d10s
Character specific dice - Mostly Chessex sets, plus the two Gamescience sets below the hobby box.
"Collector Dice" - Diablo 3 dice from the last Blizzcon goodie box, Critical Role set, Dungeons and Dragons set handed out at the Force Grey live show.
Blue Bag - Gamescience "standard" dice (may include some 20 sided d10s (0-9 twice) and 20+s (0-9, 0+-9+)
Black Bag - Loaners. 1 Chessex pound of dice and 3 sets that I'll take to cons when I'm running for new players that may not have any.
Loose Dice - (Half of) my first ever dice. One of those "X dollars for a bowl" promos from a booth at GenCon. This half made the move to college with me. The other half got lost in mom moving house.
Cool thread, I hope it lives long and prospers. :o)
I only have seven sets of dice so far, but the first set of dice I picked out and purchased were the Pathfinder RotRL dice from Q Workshop. It just so happens that I actually picked up my first set of Chessex dice three days ago. I did some random rolling to see how they bounced on the table and I have to say that I was VERY impressed with them.
For those of you who have metal dice, what ones do you have, and how do you feel about them vs regular dice?
I ask because I am fascinated by the idea of getting some, but the cost is a bit steep if they don't perform as well as regular dice.
I have no complaints at all, though they've come to be known as my "danger dice" due to the d4 (especially) and d8 having notably sharp points. The d20 is a little undersized, but it's a good thing because the darn thing is heavy enough as it is... Way heavier than my wife's set of white stone dice.
It partly depends on what surface you're planning to roll them on. I would never roll these things on a wood, glass, laminate, or even plastic surface. When I play at a wood table, I roll them on top of my DMG.

One of my players recently bought some metal dice (and a nice rolling tray to roll them in so they aren't really loud, and don't ding up the table). Next time he's over, I'll ask him what he thinks of them and share his thoughts with you - as far as I can tell from my side of the game, they work just fine. No sudden dramatic change to how well he rolls since getting them.
so not really my "collection" but its what I bring with me to our office games. Old wooden box I got from an old Diablo III Press Kit thing, came in super handy
Getting that feeling of money leaving my wallet as I look through these *__*
I'm also really excited to see how y'all carry them. Plenty of good ideas have been posted. I'm currently working on making my own box and dice holders and testing out different materials to line it with. I'm currently leaning towards deer fur as rabbit is just a bit too... fluffy.

Mine are Ultrapro Heavy Metal.
I ended up preferring regular dice in the end. It felt like one of the two d20s would always roll high, and the other would always roll low. And I could never remember which one was which until after I made an important roll.
Don't know how badly they ever dinged up the table at my Friendly Local Game Shop. The tables weren't ever exactly in pristine condition, as far as I can remember.

Levelupdice and metallic dice games seems to be a good place. I have stone dice from Metallic dice, though I haven't bought any metal dice. You can buy dice trays especially if you are concerned that your dice will harm a table. With Stone dice I would say a dice tray is essential because the table can damage the dice themselves.

Those are the coolest looking dice I've ever seen. Would you mind sharing where you got them?

I have 2 d6 (seen in my picture), and I got those years ago from Marlboro as a birthday present, when I smoked a lot. They don't work well for much of anything, but they are cool looking and I love keeping them around.

Both are right off amazon (nothing exciting I know) You looking for the metal ones or the red ones?

I just figured out the imgur problem! 'Share to community' at the end, then from that pic's page, choose the 'direct link' that includes .jpg instead.
