See title, and tell me how you got that high of an AC. For example I got an AC of 28 on a LVL 20 paladin by applying 3+ plate armor and a +3 shield, plus the defense fighting style and the Blessing of Protection. Bonuses from other creatures are allowed.
NOTE: On the Character creator, this is possible, I just want to know if it is allowed.
You will need to specify if anyone else is allowed to contribute in any way at all. There are some pretty crazy results that you can achieve all by yourself by hitting an enemy.
I can't tell you much then. I've seen numbers in the mid-30's easily. Something about a Warforged wearing Pride Silk under Full Heavy Plate Armor with sword and shield and about 12 people helping them in one way or the other, probably a Battlemaster Fighter.
Warforged and Pride Silk both give a bonus of +1 to armor class if they stack. This is unclear, usually such things do not and you'd have to ask your DM. Plate armor base is 18. Shield for 2 more. Up to 22. Add Defensive fighting style for 1 more, Up to 23, then a Maneuver with the sword attack and add another 8. 31 easy, all by yourself and something to hit.
I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the higher 40's in Armor Class.
Well.... So if you don't want to burden yourself wearing armor, were "born" as a warforged and you managed to reach Level 20 (Wizard 10 (Bladesong) / Artificer 10 (Artillerist)), picked up some dual wielder feat and war caster and a bit of Defensive Duelist and found a couple of tomes and manuals boosting your stats to 22 after rolling like a god while stumbling upon some nice Bracers of Defense, a Robe of the Archmagi, a Defender Longsword and at least a single dragon mask - i.e. the Red Dragon Mask from Tiamat.... and are currently "performing" your bladesong - you should sit at a comfortable AC 40 - with the option of using your reaction to boost to 46 (or 45 using a shield spell).
No homebrew involved - but that is far from a reasonable end result of your 20 levels of adventuring. But hey - who knows, right? :D
We rolled for stats, and my Bladesinger Wizard ended up with a 18 DEX. With Bladesong , Shield, and studded armor, he could get to AC 26 at level three. That's not spectacular, but it's pretty good for a wizard.

There, fixed it for you. Yes, that is allowed.
