The title pretty much states the entire point of this one, but I just wanted to see if anyone else thought this. If we own the physical version of a book, whether it was given as a gift, or we have it from whatever occasion, should it come with a code to unlock it free online? They give you a code to unlock dragon of ice spire peak free, so why not others? If you forget a physical book, or don’t have the space/means to transport it, that could lead to a problem, especially for a dm. Having it with a code gives you a backup, and also means you don’t have to buy the book twice.
It does not matter even if Wizards own Beyond. Getting the physical version of Nintendo games does not mean I can download the digital versions on to my 3DS or Switch. Physical and digital products are distinct and separate. Business have the right to sell them separately and not bundle them together, and customers are not entitled to one version if they bought the other.
Well, that's the point, isn't it? You'd get two versions of the book, each with their own pros and cons. Why would you not have to pay for each of them?
The Dragon of Ice Spire Peak thing is because the starter set comes in a box, btw. Harder to provide a secure, unique code with a book (needs extra packaging) than with a box (which needs to be packaged anyway).

Like being a player, love dming.
I AM YOUR DM! BOW DOWN BEFORE THE GODS! XD
No. DnDBeyond is not Wizards of the Coast so if you want something from DnDBeyond you should pay for it just like on Roll20 and other digital sites.
She/Her Player and Dungeon Master
Ok, thanks for clarifying that. I think I was under the assumption that wizards of the coast owned d and d beyond, and was a little confused.

That is a common misconception

No. Can we stop beating this horse after it has died and been buried?
