I have just ended a game and that means I now can fit another game into my schedule. I decided to look to the peanut gallery for advice and opinions to give me something to think about while I decide what I want to play next. The options I'm deciding between are:
Run Rime of the Frostmaiden - I've wanted to run this since it came out but also wanted to play it. I was in a campaign playing a ranger up to level 3 when things happened and I was unable to continue with that group.
Run Candlekeep - I've been thinking about stringing these adventures together into a beginners campaign. Have the PCs be library aides or something and they find the books one by one, maybe linked with a light overarching story. (side note on this one, I've been trying to run a teaching campaign for my wife who plays but doesn't really know the rules)
Play a PC in Frostmaiden - Again, I've been interested in this module since it came out. I've avoided reading much of the module, but between having played a little of the campaign and the spoilers I've read I am aware of the story which could diminish the fun.
Play a PC in Tomb of Anihilation - I don't even know if anyone is running this one anymore. I like the vibe of it
Hold my Horses and Run the Wilds in the Witchlight when it comes out - I already have a lot of Feywild in one of my homebrew campaigns and I don't know if the bits of leaked story for this look awesome. I'm buying just for the Feywild lore and stuff, but unsure about the module as a campaign
I would love to hear people's thoughts and advice on these. If you've played or ran any of these modules or are more in tune with the word on the street about them. I usually run my homebrew world, but I have 2 campaigns going there and don't want to completely write another storyline. I don't play as a PC much either, but I've learned that playing a character in a crappy game is worse than Forever DM so I'm a little picky about finding groups now. Would love more in-person but haven't had time to hang at the local shops lately.
Tomb is better than Rime, for my two cents anyway. Rime's good (if a bit more finnicky to prep) too, but Tomb is probably top-3 of the official WotC adventures and Rime's more towards the middle of the pack. And if you've been holding off on reading ahead in Rime anyway, I'd say save it in case you find a DM to run it for you.
That said, getting to play is more about finding a DM first and seeing what they'll run second. You might get to have input on what campaign gets played as a player, or you might have to settle for what the DM has on offer.

I've read and heard good things about Tomb, I would love to play that as a PC. You're probably right about finding a game to play a PC, if I go that route I'll probably just play what I can find from a DM I click with. Those are more of my wish lists I suppose now that I think about it.
