I was wondering if player character option (races/backgrounds/...) from adventure books (like wild beyond the witchlight) eventually make it to sourcebook. I don't have a use for adventures but options for players are more what i look toward.
I don't know if or how often that happens, the only precedent I can think of would be maybe there were backgrounds in CoS that were transferred to VGtR.
If you're debating buying the book for the two backgrounds and races, you don't have to. If you go to the WBtW's page in the marketplace, and scroll past the book price, you'll see options available for purchase a la carte. That is you can buy a background for 1.99 or both for 2.99, same with the two races. 1.99 or 2.99. If you ultimately buy WBtW those purchases are credited to the book. My copy is waiting in a store that closes for inventory and order fulfillment on Tuesdays so I don't have my physical pre order in hand yet, but reviews I've read say there's some good DM guidance for folks who want to run a more "performance" oriented adventures as well as non or less violent adventures, so you may find yourself eventually wanting to buy it. However, if you buy those races and they do show up in a non adventure sourcebook (like a XGtE or TCoE), I do not believe those purchases can credit to that hypothetical book (I think this came up with people who bought Eberon books or the Artifcer class from it and wanted their ownership of Artificers it credited toward Tasha's purchases, which didn't happen).
