Heya, sorry if this is the wrong sub-forum for this, everything seems to be a little all over the place.
I've been eyeing the options for a while, but as of yet, it's hard to get a clear idea of what will be possible. So I may as well ask.
Will we at any point have functionality for adding feats, skills, spells (including what class they're locked to) etc? Will we have the ability to use the builder with them? I'm asking because I've been messing with converting 5e to a Cyberpunk setting for a while now. I initially bought Fantasy Grounds back in the day, hoping I could modify stuff, and drag and drop, like they do with their kits, so I could play with my friends. But alas, no dice.
And then this came along, so I bought all the rulebooks (not the campaigns, I doubt I'll ever see a use for them) hoping once more that this might be possible, but I'm beginning to think it won't be the case either. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy I bought it all, I'm playing with a group and it's tremendously helpful.
But I love the 5e rules, so I gotta ask, will I ever be able to:
Add or modify skills? Like replacing religion with hacking?
Add custom weapon proficiencies? Or rename existing ones to things like "Pistol" or "SMG"?
Create custom spells and tie them to a class? Say, instead of "Cleric" it's "program" for use with feats?
Let's say I create a magic initiate like feature. Except I call it "console". It allows me to run 3 "spells" from the class of "Program"...?
Custom races and sub-races? Because while cyberpunk goblins are all kinds of cool, I'm not sure they should act like their fantasy ilk.
Will any of this ever be possible, and if... Will my players ever be able to utilise it in the character builder?
Obviously, it's fine if I can't. But a guy can dream... Right? ^^
Everything but homebrew classes either is planned or already exists.
Heh, well obviously, classes are a pretty big part of the above idea. Deckers, Runners, Modded etc would probably differ wildly from Bards, Rogues and Barbarians.
Oh well. I'll hold out for now, and cross my fingers then.
If classes like Deckers, Runners, and Modded, etc. are entirely new classes, unfortunately, DDB is probably not the platform for you as there are no real plans for that.
HOWEVER, if say, a Modded is the same as a Barbarian, but rather than "Rage" has "Biomechanical Surge" (or whatever) and it's all the same abilities just with tech names, then there have been nods in the direction of being able to do that. I doubt it will be around anytime soon, but basically relabeling things but leaving the mechanics the same is MUCH easier than completely custom classes and might be in DDB's future. *shrug* Here's hoping!
