So, I'm going to be starting a DND game set in a 1940s steampunk meets high fantasy setting. Think horses are a thing if the past because of cars, zepplins and guns going shoulder to shoulder with magic and elves and dwarves. Halflings leading swing bands, elven movie stars, and cults dedicated to chaotic gods seeking to undo the natural order of the world. I know not good DND fodder. However, one if my players, whose house they meet at, will only play 3.5 DND. Are there any sourcebooks or something I can use to convert?
I didn't want to make the switch from 3.5 to 5 initially (had tons of books, knew the system, been playing forever) but I let some friends run me through a one shot. After thats I was a born again 5e convert. Just try to get him to build a character and run a short one shot and see if he softens to the idea if playing 5.
One of the reasons I like 5e (compared to 4e) is that for the most part I can use all my 3/3.5 books without much conversion.
If he/she has a character in mind made with 3.5 rules, maybe post it here and we can help "convert" it.

"Orcs are savage raiders and pillagers with stooped postures, low foreheads, and piggish faces with prominent lower canines that resemble tusks." MM p245 (original printing) You don't OWN your books on DDB: WotC can change them any time. What do you think will happen when OneD&D comes out?

Like, asking for something like converting d20 modern? To 5e, or from 5e to 3.x? I'm not sure on the question here.
Create a free account here and use the free SRD to try out a couple of classes and races that is included.
That was how we got hooked.
I'm not stupid. I'm just unlucky when I'm thinking.
