So I am at 3d level Assassin rogue currently and want to pick up 3 levels of ranger for gloom Stalker but I want to make sure I am seeing the attack build correctly.
with Sneak attack, Dread Ambusher and Assassinate
A) 1 handed main weapon with surprise = 1st attack: weapon dmg plus bonus dmg plus sneak attack dmg plus crit dmg.
B) 2nd attack= Weapon dmg plus bonus dmg plus plus crit dmg plus Dread Ambusher bonus dmg.
Off hand bonus action attack = weapon dmg (plus bonus dmg if two weapon style is used).
Also, If I pick up 2 levels of warrior then I can Do A) and B) again in the same turn.
Does that sound right? Don't want to overwhelm my DM with so much Awesomeness but he is new and learning rules as we play.
No second sneak attack on your turn I am afraid. You can only get sneak attack once on your turn. You absolutely get the crit but not sneak attack twice
Additionally, surprise and initiative are separate mechanics. In 5E, there's no surprise round: everybody rolls initiative on the first round, it's just that if you are surprised you don't get to do much (possibly nothing at all). However, even if you don't do anything on your turn because of being surprised, you still have your turn as soon as your initiative comes up; that means that if the target of the PC with Assassinate has a higher initiative than that PC it can still be surprised (and if so, attacks will crit) but Assassinate won't give advantage and that PC will need something else to make the attack a sneak attack.

Want to start playing but don't have anyone to play with? You can try these options: [link].
Action Surge doesn't grant a second Bonus Action, just a second Action, so 2 levels of Fighter for Action Surge will just net you one extra attack once per Short or Long Rest
I know it only adds an action. But Dread ambusher is an additional attack to your action. Not a bonus attack.
-Dread Ambusher "At the start of your first turn of each combat, your walking speed increases by 10 feet, which lasts until the end of that turn. If you take the Attack action on that turn, you can make one additional weapon attack as part of that action. If that attack hits, the target takes an extra 1d8 damage of the weapon’s damage type."
Starting at 2nd Level, you can push yourself beyond your normal limits for a moment. On Your Turn, you can take one additional action on top of your regular action and a possible Bonus Action.
So action Surge adds an additional Action on any turn I choose. If I use it on the first turn, then RAW says Dread Ambusher applies since it is the first turn and it is an action. Therefore 4 attacks (attack action one plus Dread Ambusher plus action surge attack action plus Dread Ambusher still applies because it is the first turn and it is an attack action) plus a bonus action.
Yep, you don't use Bonus Action for Dread Ambusher, so, in that turn, you can use the attack action, including Dread Ambusher, action surge, and do it again.
Pretty cool!

So I updated my post, TY for the responses.
