My favourite so far is Mighlo, a forever 12 year old pirate Dhampir (originally a high elf) rogue who is obsessed with draining colour from things. His absolute favourite is blue which he goes mad for.
I've only been playing D&D (5e) for a few months and I'm having a blast. I've made five characters already, I like them all but I absolutely LOVE one in particular.
Qarsh Kalegai; an 8ft 30st Goliath Samurai. I've written pages of lore for him and mostly his Clan for my DM to work with. Not your typical stereotype of a Goliath, he is very reserved and precise and is an interesting blend of Goliath cultural traits and traits associated with the Samurai as we know them. He's Lawful Neutral, still observing the rules of fair play and competition whilst also following a Warriors Code (Like Bushido and Chivalry with a D&D universe twist). They worship a mythical Dragon saved their clan from a hopeless war with an Orcish Warband by teaching them how to become great Warriors and helped them defeat the Orcs.
Of all the characters I have made, Qarsh is the one that I look forward to playing the most. He's an absolute beast in combat and wields a fiery No-Dachi (Reflavoured Greatsword with Flame Tongue) and carries a banner on his back into battle that belongs to his Clan, one side is a golden dragon and the other is written "KALEGAI" in Draconic. Not only is he a beast in combat, but he's an absolute blast to RP with. This could only be possible with a great DM and great players, but Qarsh is naturally the leader of the group (Something I never intended) thanks to his stiff-upper lip attitude and granite resolve. His stoic attitude really bounces off the other players who have wacky, charismatic and funny characters who are more open that has led to some hilarious moments. He brings a gritty, serious yet mysterious presence.
In Combat, the combination of Stone's Endurance and Fighting Spirit has been immense and has saved our party as I've soaked an ungodly amount of damage and kept fighting, dishing out huge DPS in return. Combined with the Sentinel feat, I've hammered some damage out. My character has 20 Strength and 18 Consitution which really helps, thankfully, I rolled VERY well with this character in his creation.
Playing a race usually attributed to reckless barbarians and created a Warrior from a Noble Clan was something that suprised the other players and really got them asking questions in-character to find out more about him. I've ordered a custom figure from Hero Forge (See below) and it'll be my first serious miniature painting project. I've also enjoyed the World Building aspect, I really got me attached to my character and his clan.
Lavernious Pelonious Malicus. A 9th level Cleric of Pelor. I did amazing things with him playing in the Temple of Elemental Evil campaign (D&D 3.5 edition) Long did he serve his god and fight with and heal his fellow party members. Alas, he died heroically (along with the rest of his comrades) when they were ambushed by an adult red dragon.

i can see why. samurai in general are cool. the idea of a dragon helping to start the clan is great.also one question. when you say "traits associated with the Samurai as we know them" does his mean pop culture known or historically known
I want to know who your favorite character that you played as or with is and why.

My favorite character: Fiego Laurentis de Gryphon, of the Waterdeep de Gryphones
Canto alla vita
alla sua bellezza
ad ogni sua ferita
ogni sua carezza!
I sing to life and to its tragic beauty
To pain and to strife, but all that dances through me
The rise and the fall, I've lived through it all!
