Volo's Guide to Monsters, but you can buy the race individually at $1.99 rather than the whole book.

Zero is the most important number in D&D: Session Zero sets the boundaries and the tone; Rule Zero dictates the Dungeon Master (DM) is the final arbiter; and Zero D&D is better than Bad D&D.

sorry to be a dunce, but how do I buy individual characters, do I need a higher level of subscription than basic?
im not great at tech stuff as im a bit of a noob to DnD
No worries.
Go on this page here, scroll to the bottom, look for Tabaxi and press the button which has the price and the shopping cart next to it. Then go to checkout, add all your details and pay. Then you can make your character with that race on DND Beyond's Create a Character Function, and scroll through the available races on that tab for Tabaxi.
You can only really create characters via DND Beyond. You can't get fully made ones per se, unless you do Quick Build which will give you the bare essentials. You don't need to subscribe to make characters, but you can only make a total of six without the first subscription tier. That will be more than enough for a beginner.
I hope that helps! Any more questions, don't hesitate to ask. ^^

Super stuff. I hope you have as much fun as I did with my feline monk also!

For future reference (assuming you already bought the Tabaxi), you can also "homebrew" official races, subclasses, items, backgrounds, feats, & more, which you have the info for from the books.
Look at the Collections heading (right under the DNDBeyond logo), then under where it says "homebrew", click on "create" followed by what you are wanting (race, background, etc). Then enter the info from the official entries in the books.
Useful if you are unsure about spending much on DNDBeyond but still want to make use of its character creator function.
Note: it will ask if you want to keep it private or publish; you will want to keep it private to avoid violating any rules.
Hey so like kinda random but like I clicked the link and it’s talking about how it’s legacy content or something so what should I do at this point? (Also kinda of a noob with dnd beyond especially)
Hi! So Volo's Guide is no longer offered as it's been replaced by Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse. That can be found here.
However, you can no longer buy species individually. That option was taken away on April 30th, 2024, alongside all "a la carte" purchase options. So, in order to get the Tabaxi option, you'll either need to purchase the entire book, homebrew it, or find someone who is willing to content share with you for the creation of your character.

We're doing a mix, so you're fine. If you want to update your character to a 2024 one, you can copy and paste over, but you don't have too. There are differences between 2014 and 2024. You can build a 2024 water genasi to see (or I can if you'd like an add to the campaign so you can look over), but no change needed unless you desire to do so. Great question BTW.
And I see a background post. Replying to Ghost first.
You can make a tabaxi for a Khajiitt with Monsters of the Multiverse. Or a Leonin by adding Mythic Odysseys of Theros. I have the books and we're in a campaign so I could create a character type and unassign. A person in campaign could claim.
what book, if any, do I need to purchase to make Tabaxi as an available race in character creater on DnD beyond
