@6thLyranGuard True, several of them know but I didn't make a huge announcement or anything. The asst GM, I presumed, would tell the others since she was responsible for donations. So I am just going to follow the others' advice & just be very clear about the charge. I am sure that many if not all will drop out but I am hemorrhaging so can't sustain this by myself. And honestly, I feel underappreciated. I don't think even at my poorest that I have ever not went out of my way to show the GM appreciation or chip in.
Say, I am happy to report that six out of six players decided to continue despite the costs. This is assuring because they have many other options such as local or online DMs who provide all the stuff for free. So I am glad that I followed the constructive advice of some who replied who said that I should just tell the players & let them decide.
I do think that some of the replies seem to try to shame me into thinking that I should front the costs for my players which I personally think is ridiculous. Perhaps they are very, very desperate to have players but I think people should all pay their fair share. All of us are trying to enjoy ourselves not at the expense of just one person.

But thanks again to those with helpful comments.
I thought I originally posted in this thread, just saying that nothing in the group I'm in is paid for by any one person (we chip in all our way), I personally fund all the DnD Beyond stuff after another member got into it, but that was a sole choice and since I was already paying might as well share.
That being said I re-read through the posts and I don't think anyone was shaming you, perhaps thats just the way that you took them. I know one post in particular (when you were saying this DM said this, or this DM said that should be the bare minimum) said that was a little absurd because know one should expect things of that nature for being a bare minimum... and even that wasn't a shame on you, more like stating that line of thinking shouldn't be what's expected. That also being said most of the other posts were when things come up with needing to cost or someone needs to turn it into a pay session for whatever reason it needs to be discussed by the group as a whole to figure out who will stay and who will go (glad that you have discussed it and they are going to stay and contribute by the way).
I see that you have a solution to the overall problem, but I was wondering if you’d considered a conference room at your local library to host the games. In my town, at least, you can reserve them for free. It might make the costs easier on everyone.

I just remembered that my local library has a couple of these. I'm not sure if I could use them for D&D necessarily, but I don't really need to. Worth looking into though. I used to print off character sheets there.

Glad you got a happy resolution.

Only spilt the party if you see something shiny.
