I realize that this is an old subject, and not something that has a satisfactory solution, yet.
However, I was wondering if anyone has thought of making some kind of application that would strip data from the PDF export and convert it to e.g. JSON?
This would make it possible to maintain the characters on D&D Beyond and then get a snapshot for use with a VTT session.
While not official, the Beyond20 extension allow you to do this live without the need to export your character separately. You can roll and maintain your character sheet here on dbb, while rolls are sent to VTT.

I know of this, but I not using any of the supported VTT, so the extension is of no use to me.
I sure would like DnDB to provide information on just how to grab the hooks required to build an extension. Roll20 is not my preferred application (I very much dislike its mapping, and the character sheets are much less than adequate), or I probably would not be here. I love DnDBeyond, but my VTT of choice is Owlbear.app. It's great. 2.0 has opened up the path for extensions, and want chat with dice, similar to Beyond20. I'm sure I could start dissecting and reverse engineering, but time to build is an issue for me rn. As it stands, Beyond20 has too much function for my needs. I don't need character sheet transferring. I need dice and chat on my map. Someone just created an extension for it, but it's bloated and requires some integration with a website. To me, this would break some security.
All of that being said, if someone has this information, or knowledge of, please direct me.
I have created a userscript that will help you to export your character sheets and download them as JSON files. These can then be used to create PDFs or uploaded to VTTs like foundry. This way you can still have access to your character sheets before cancelling your subscription.
Maybe I was unclear. I have no plans on cancelling DnDB. I don't have anything on Roll20, and no sub there. My VTT of choice is OwlBear.app. I want to integrate dice from DnDB into OwlBear. I use character sheets here, and don't need those exported, but thanks.
