When moving a character from one campaign to another (say if a DM can no longer run it and no one wants to pick up the ball) and this PC has a campaign specific magic item, eg: Serpents Fang from Candlekeep Mysteries, will the item stay with the PC if the new DM nor another PC does not have Candlekeep to share?
That's just an example, but I know someone wanting to quit a campaign but doesn't want to lose their 10th lvl barbarian.
As far as I'm aware, when you lose access to materials then anything already on your character will remain linked, but if you unlink/delete the thing from your character then you won't be able to add it again.
Definitely encourage the player to make a copy of the present barbarian and join a new campaign with the copy. That way, if the DM say nixes anything on the barbarian's sheet, it's not lost forever to the player.

Sorry about fat fingering the title

Thanks, we'll give it a try
