I'm currently playing a level 1 Warforged Barbarian (Totem Warrior (bear, tiger, bear); no multiclassing allowed) in an Eberron Campaign. Of course, I'm playing a tank. My stats are STR 16, DEX 14, CON 16, INT 8, WIS 12, CHA 8.
Originally, I planned the following: 4: +2 STR; 8: GWM; 12: Sentinel; 16: +2 STR.
But now my DM expects me to take Aberrant Dragonmark at level 4. If I had known about the Aberrant Dragonmark earlier, I'd have put only 15 In my CON instead, but that's not what I did. If I take Aberrant Dragonmark, I'm thinking about Booming Blade & Shield and then 8: +2 STR; 12: GWM; 16: Sentinel; 19: +2 STR. But I'm not really convinced.
So if I'm taking the Aberrant Dragonmark, what are good spells to use, and what progression path would be best for a tank?
I'll have to take a look at the spell list again, but remember you can't cast spells while rage is active. You may want to look at utility instead of damage spells

You're correct! I totally overlooked that. The more I consider Aberrant Dragonmark, the less I want it...
Why is your DM forcing you to take it? In the words of Charlie 'Just say no'. Or find a different game. Playing with an autocratic DM that tells you what you have to take as character options when levelling up is never a good idea. Unless of course they are giving it to you as a freebie. If they absolutely insist then walk away as it will only get worse.
At the very least, if the DM is going to hijack your L4 ASI, then you should be allowed to retcon your ability socre distribution to match what you would have done had you known it was coming. I don't consider these hijacks to be part of the rules or within the powers of DM. I might encourage players to make choices based on the narrative (rather than minmaxxing or otherwise going for mechanical based choices), but I won't force them and any restrictions will be based on other reasons. However, screwing you over by dictating what should be player choice without warning. The DM should by rights let you retcon your scores to account for this change.
Or just let you have the dragonmark for free. I'll throw out freebies occasionally if I think a character should have something.
