Eloquence bard with expertise in persuasion. A good investigation and insight as well. Though that probably fits most top-tieir trial lawyers.
Yeah this is probably the best way to go about it. Could even draw on his teaching and inspiring his children and being an example to others as his sort of bardic inspiration if you want to stretch things.
I suppose inquisitive rogue could also make a case for itself but I think you hit the nail on the head with eloquence bard. Inquisitive would probably be more a detective than a lawyer.
Speaking from the perspective of a trial attorney, I would third eloquence bard. Perhaps take two levels in Order Cleric for its ability to captivate a crowd of people using their channel divinity.
You will probably also want investigation and perhaps a touch of performance - both are pretty necessary tools in the attorney’s repertoire.
While Eloquence Bard no doubt for trial attorney of "lore," having witnessed and been a witness for my fair share of trials the eloquent trial attorney is a bit of mythological figure, quite literally in that it shapes how many a trial attorney conceive themselves. I'd start my Atticus build as a Rogue reskinned as a "clever boy" to get him Insight from the outset. Yeah, Bards can grab expertise at level 3 but I really think Insight and empathy are more at Atticus's core than the rhetorical toolset he built up over his career. I don't usually insist a leveled up MC build has their levels acquired in some biographical order, but for Atticus it seems like Insight Expertise should be at his inception and it feels right to start him with a bit of a "lower" perspective. Not Bobby Burns populism Bard lower perspective but really getting lived experience, so level 1 R.
