I cant seem to find the race? I know it was mentioned in few of the source books but doesnt seem to be selectable as a race?

I don't ever recall hearing of a D&D PC race by that name in any edition.
Could you be thinking of the Verdan (from Acquisitions Incorporated) or the Vedalken (from Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica)?
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.

it’s a human ethnicity in the Realms.
You'd just use the human or variant human race, then, 5e doesn't get more specific than that.
