The problem is that people were so hyped on the title that they didn't care about the price point v content. I actually brought this up when it was announced - and was repeatedly told that it was to be expected, that at last we were getting quality content and that I should just shut and pay for it. I was dubious because for one, 192 pages make for slim pickings for a monster manual, a setting book AND an adventure, and two, no one had even read an excerpt or sample. People just heard Spelljammer and assumed that it must be good and therefore worth the money.
I guess WotC predicted that and decided to cash in on it.

I did the exact same thing, and now I'm not so sure about my decision.
