I've been working on this little sub-race for a while and was wondering how more senior players would judge it. Note this species has already been submitted to the home brew race thing with much more detail.
My elf sub-race is currently being called North Elves, witch is most likely to change in the future. The overall idea is that they're elves who have small plants growing from their heads with their hair ( small plants being flowers, vines, ivy, moss, ferns, some fungus, and rarely small trees and bushes witch are often stylized into horns). And then their eyes are completely one color no iris,no pupil,no whites. And an ability I was thinking of them was having them being able to gain a small amount of HP back when the plants connected to them are able to photosynthesize. ( This would be once per day and only when in contact of direct sunlight).
They are a very social people, preferring to stay in large groups, have big families, and live in apartment-like homes to be closer to each other. They also like parties and social events. North elves will often make up holidays to find an excuse to party. if a member of their society has social anxiety or simply doesn't like to socialize they'll be forced to socialized in the hopes they'll start to like it; thoes who don't crack to social pressure are often outcasted.
With their sociability and interest in politics they'd have bonuses in charisma and wisdom persuasion, constitution, and perception.
The typical alignment for North Elves is NG, LG, and TN. Typical classes are wizard, bard, and druid.
Hmm that seems pretty neat. I would love to see this done up in the the typical DnD sub-race fashion. I would also be interesting in hearing how they fit into your world. Are you creating your own or supplementing an existing?
They are a part of a world I created separate from cannon lore and locations; though i'd be more than happy to hear them be used by others in their games, no matter the context. In my world they're a little bit parasitic; as in they spread out and somewhat 'sneak' into other cities and nations governments. They don't really do any real harm other than maybe give some bad advice from time to time. But I've mostly been using them as diplomats and more eccentric NPC's. Almost using them as if they were telemarketers in shop settings. The most used one currently is on a council in a normal elven country and he oversees the agricultural production for it ( he's a bit corrupt and manipulative. He's got roses so its kinda obvious hes a prick. *bada tiss* ).
Re the plants: why not give them resistance to exhaustion (I don't think that's a thing, but that kind of idea) when in sunlight? Sounds like their sub-race bonus should be wisdom.

Still looking for more opinions!

The resistance sounds pretty cool and thank you for a corrected sub-race bonus
Anyone else?
It went tru!
