I'm not sure if this has been brought up before (apologies if it has) but I wasn't really able to find an answer despite searching. I've also never used D&D Beyond and the answer to this question would guide me one way or another if I'll use it.
Is D&D Beyond meant to be used by the entire group and DM? For example if the DM is going with a pen/paper approach, two players are doing the same, can I as the lone player just use D&D Beyond? I feel like the app promotes the use by the entire group for content sharing, showing each others dice rolls, etc. but it is necessary or can I be the only one using it?
From the player perspective D&D Beyond is pretty much the same if you use it individually or in a group. There is no real loss in functionality if you are the only player using Beyond for your character sheet.
From the perspective of a DM who is using Beyond, Beyond is much better if the entire group is using it, and I insist on my players building their characters on Beyond. There are a number of DM functions - such as the encounter builder, ability to view character sheets and edit them to add various DM-granted boons, the auto-filling of initiative and viewing of rolls, etc. - that simply work better if everyone is on Beyond. If the DM is not using Beyond, then a single player using Beyond is not any different than that player using any other character sheet.
All of these answers are exactly what I was looking for. Feels good knowing I can go in using D&D Beyond without messing it up for anyone else. Thanks for all the responses.

You can use it solo.
You also don't *have* to use the digital dice, you can use the character creator to just keep track of spell slots/health etc.
That's generally what I do when playing in person, and then roll physical dice.

I use it as a mobile character sheet and roll physical dice. It's helped me understand D&D a lot more as a beginner player and also as a beginner DM.

I just joined and wondered if you could help me set up a campaign through an e mail group chat I don't have discord
