I am looking to run a module for some new players. I am new to DMing but have played for several years.
If I were to purchase the Module that I would like to run what features does that give me as the DM.
Is there a way for me to keep easy track of the NPCs from the Module? Can I easily locate in game information like area descriptions or Maps that are included in the book?
Am I provided with encounters that are included with the book?
What would be the benefit to purchasing the entire book rather than just the content that my players want to use, e.g. Races and Backgrounds?
Best way to see what you get is to try one of the free adventure. They are set up like all of the others (although quite a bit shorter, of course).
I know Lost Mine of Phandelver and Frozen Sick are free, and especially Lost Mine of Phandelver, which is the longer of the two, is a good indication of what the longer adventures are like.
Lost Mine of Phandelver, aside from being just a great starting adventure, is also a good impression of how modules lay out storylines and encounters in general. And, it's free!
