This topic has probably been mentioned hundreds of times, but I still want to get people's opinions. What's your favourite race (or species) and class? Personally, I love gnomes and owlins, as well as sorcerers and clerics.
I'm a huge fan of Orcs and Gnomes. Something about the species that seem to get a little less love as pcs.
For class I gravitate towards the martial classes, but especially fighters because of how versatile they are playstyle wise, as well as how many different aesthetics they can utilize
humans, gnomes, halflings. Rogues mostly but really anything the party needs for a class. Normally a good alignment but sometimes a very evil one for the funz.
Species: Overall I'm very basic... I'll admit it. I like playing as humans and elves typically. This is usually due to the fact that I don't really think about character species much when creating a character concept, and I don't envision my characters as the more out-there races. Also free feat at level 1 from variant human is just a magnet from the customization side of me
Classes: Overall I like the more complex classes from gameplay standpoints, and typically build my characters so I'm doing fresh stuff every round rather than just "the damage button". In addition, I like using my action economy to the fullest in combat. Mechanically I like Spellsword builds the most, typically a bit more on the caster side of it, rather than the "beeg nova damage" more martial-like ones. I'm fine with sacrificing a bit of vertical power for even stronger horizontal power, as long as I'm still doing fine vertical-power wise. I tend to grab more tactically focused feats than the damage ones overall. The next campaign I'll be playing in, I'm thinking about maybe swords bard. Thematically... I also like spellsword builds. It's like being a martial but actually good, since you can just say you're a regular dude with cool magic sword. Plus, most martials get magic weapons eventually so why not embrace it?

Elves, all of them.
As for class so far I'd say Druid, but I'd love to someday play a Monk. (or at least my Sea Elf Monk)
Dwarf, and Cleric, though oddly usually not at the same time...
Also a fan of Humans, Firbolgs, Gnomes, and Goliaths
And Rangers, Fighters, Warlocks, and Wizards
Races/Species: All of them.
Classes: All of them.
I imagine GMs tend to be less locked-in to particular archetypes.
However, I like reimagining races with Tasha's Custom Lineages.
Human Bard.
I kinda like to play as myself. ;-Ps
Thank you for your time and please have a very pleasant day.

Half elves, humans, Genesai and bugbears; Rangers, sorcerors, artificers and wizards
Wisea$$ DM and Player since 1979.
I'd play just about anything if I was inspired enough.

Yes honestly, Monks are such a fun class to play
D n D addict who cant find a campaign so spends all their time watching critical role
Mentioned this before but my favourite lineage is the Half-Elf and my favourite class is the Wizard.
Tieflings are a close second.
I also enjoy playing as Bards and Barbarians. Clerics and Paladins are fun too but I don't really like the priestly flavour.
