Particularly note what's on the cover of the beta: "Compatible with 5th edition"... THAT'S DND. What other edition could they possibly mean? Definitely not related to the 5th edition of the board of control of cricket in india, which I found only through wikipedia's disambiguation page... "Using only open game content"... THAT'S WIZARDS 1.0A... "This is not to be given, released and handed to anyone associated with Wizards of the Coast, Hasbro"... WHAAAAAT? Doesn't that sound like they knew?
This thing makes wotc look like they wear white sheets to work and wave klan flags during midnight nazi rallies in rural fields - they gotta stop that thing NO MATTER THE COST!
Trademark... Copyright... Original material... Open game content... Dancey's 1.0a covers it because there's nothing in it that handles racism, yet the thing is . Wotc is like the guy shackled to the floor when the room starts filling up with water. Whether he breaks the shackle or chops off his own foot, he's gotta get free or drown. At this point, I expect a search of the homes of the hasbro lawyers would discover a number of ryan dancey pics with stab holes, for making the thing too good while not leaving an airlock so the klan can be sent into space.
It's too bad the hasbro lawyers are freaking idiots for using the opportunity to try and shovel more cash into their pockets and hijack the creations of people that love dnd enough to spend their priceless free time expanding it. Hasbro could have had this be easy and over already, derailed that garage size tsr game of racism and had a happy dnd galaxy with an updated license with an airlock labeled "racists exit here". But merely the attempt at taking other people's stuff and selling it shows that option will ALWAYS be present in the minds of the hasbro suits. Merely the attempt at having 3rd party distributors pay nearly their ENTIRE profit margin to hasbro has signaled to the entire dnd galaxy that this plan will ALWAYS be an idea on the table at hasbro.
The well is poisoned. 1.0a absolutely must be assassinated by wotc or when that racist game gets released they will have to deal with the fallout. But any new ogl license that includes future flexibility will not be trusted. By acting like a profit-seeking company instead of decent people, you yourselves put on a Necklace of Strangulation: A necklace of strangulation appears to be a rare and wondrous piece of valuable jewelry and, short of the use of something as powerful as a miracle or a wish, can only be identified as a cursed item when placed around a character’s neck. The necklace immediately constricts, dealing 6 points of damage per round. It cannot be removed by any means short of a limited wish, wish, or miracle and remains clasped around the victim’s throat even after his death. Published under the 1.0a
Seems to me that they already have legal means to deal with this and therefore don' need to do so with a new license. They used to also have the goodwill of the community at their backs as well. Too bad they pissed a lot of that away because that would have carried them a long way in these fights.

Read this. Seriously, read it. I can't retype it without facepalming so hard I'll lose teeth. Note the lawsuit is filed just 4 months ago.
