I have recently started DMing for a group of friends, after the session i went to check over my players sheets to ensure that they had a long rest like i said and saw that they all have nearly double the money that they should have https://1921681254.mx/.
I am asking as i am unsure if they are cheating and adding money to their sheets behind my back, dnd beyond is messing up or if dnd beyond is adding it from a unknown rule that i do not knowhttps://100001****/.
There are not any rules that should automatically be adding gold to their character sheet. They are manually adding it, although they may not be cheating; they may have accidentally added the starting gold twice in their character sheet (this can happen if you change your starting gear choices and forget to reset the gold separately from your items). Of course, they could be cheating, but you should ask them why they have the extra gold.

I write homebrew and don't publish it. (evil, I know)

Encumberance rules and don't ignore coin weight. Make them "find banks" or "be charitable heroes" or "buy a pack mule to haul treasure" etc. even if they are adding money. There's really not much to do with money unless you the DM allow it to happen. So its very easy to keep money related issues in check.
I have found that in the inventory section you can place coins into different containers you have, like a backpack. If you add coins to your backpack it does not automatically subtract it from the coin total at the top, you have to manually do that. Otherwise it looks like you have extra coin.
