During the 4th Ed years, I think there were a few Forgotten Realms books that had Dragonborn characters in them, but I'm not as sure about FR lore. Dragonborn were children of 4th Ed, where FR was not really the main setting, so all their lore was more centered around Nerath/Points of Light setting where they had some great empire back in the day and fought a great war with and equally great Teifling empire which caused both to fall to ruins and allow the other races to flourish.

I'm more referring to stories written about them Quasi.
The lore is like watching a documentary, a story involving them is like living it. Or rather, I guess I could say I want to see the lore in action, rather than in description.
Just started playing a Tabaxi. My go-to reference is the Forgotten Realms wiki page. It's still a lore dump, but it does list primary sources in the references section.
I'd also look on the DMSguild for Dragon Magazine issues with WInning Races: Dragonborn articles, as they tended to be really good deep dives into playing Dragonborn, though they assumed the Points of Light setting rather than Forgotten Realms.
I hope this is cosher here, since it TECHNICALLY involves DND.
Are there any Forgotten Realms, or Dragonlance books that deal with either of these races? or is there nothing about them yet outside of DND itself?

Would you happen to know the name of any of them? I have tried looking myself for about a week before I finally gave in and posted here

Hit the D&D wiki pages for dragonborn lore, there are some great tidbits and listed references.
Perpetually annoyed that Eldritch Knights can't use Eldritch Blast, Eldritch Smite, and Eldritch Sight.

BUT I will look into it.

Agreed, I think you will find the books listed as references...I hope so :)

The Brimstone Angel series by Erin M. Evans, as well as the novel The God Catcher by her, includes Dragonborn characters.
Here is part 1 of a series of articles by Evans. It deals with playing Dragonborn in the Realms. http://slushlush.com/2015/05/on-playing-a-dragonborn-in-the-forgotten-realms-part-1/
