Hey guys, I’m going to play a shepherd druid soon and a buddy of mine has a similar question on hit dice for his sorcerer. After reading some older threads and guides I see a lot of comments saying some features, such as mighty summoner don’t work on spells from Tasha such as summon draconic spirit, for example, cause it doesn’t have hit dice. Looking at such stat blocks I do however see Xd8 or Xd10 + Y behind their HP.
Does this mean every monster now has hit dice and the guides I read haven’t been updated? Or is draconic spirit the exception cause it’s not the “beast or fey” as written in the class description?
So as you mentioned, summoned draconic spirit wouldn't work because it's not beast or fey (though it clearly has hit dice). Also, it's from Fizban's not Tasha's. The other spells from Tasha's (summon beast/fey) still do not have hit dice listed. You could argue that it follows the same formula (number of d10s per level of the spell) and your DM might be ok with that. Just check with them first.

Please help me out 😅
