Hi! Quick question. I am wielding a longsword as my weapon for my paladin character. The damage button on the app says 1d8+3, but the description of the longsword in the app says I can add my proficiency bonus to attack rolls made with it https://omegle****/https://xender.vip/.
However, my strength modifier is +3 and my prof bonus is +2, so wouldn’t the damage be 1d8+5? Or does the bonus damage just take the highest modifier?
Your Proficiency Bonus doesn't get added the damage roll, just the attack roll. 1d8+3 for your damage is right for a one-handed attack with a longsword with a strength modifier of +3.

If you're not willing or able to to discuss in good faith, then don't be surprised if I don't respond, there are better things in life for me to do than humour you. This signature is that response.
To clarify Linklite's point - an Attack Roll is when you roll a d20 (and add your relevant Attack Modifier) to see if you hit. A Damage Roll is when you roll a dice determines by your weapon, and you add only the relevant ability score modifier - usually Strength or Dexterity, depending on the weapon or situation.
In DnD, a big thing to hammer into your brain early is that Attack and Damage rolls are two separate things. Learning that is crucial to understanding the flow of combat in the game.

I know what you're thinking: "In that flurry of blows, did he use all his ki points, or save one?" Well, are ya feeling lucky, punk?
