Welcome to the first (and hopefully many more to come) Tavern Talks segment! These threads are utilized for player-to-DM discussions under a certain topic. Please feel free to post either as a player, DM, or both! As with my groups, we have used Tavern Talks as a place to discuss certain topics related to DM and Player relationships to build a better connection at the table and better ourselves to get the most out of this wonderful hobby!
As with Tavern Talks, this is a place to encourage, engage, and help each other learn and grow in a casual conversation. This is not a place to rant or bicker, but a place to challenge each other to become exceptional players and DM's alike 😁. For myself, it helps me become a better DM, so I look forward to seeing what this wonderful community of adventurers got to offer!
Guidelines
Minimal ranting, this is not a discussion thread to complain about.
Constructive dialogue - no need to belittle people.
Be engaging.
Have fun!

What are TWO (2) things you love to see DM's do and two things you don't like DM's to do?
My Response
Like
I love to see DM's give each player time in the spotlight, balancing each role for each character in the story
I like to see incorporated backstories, which makes my character feel more involved in the story.
Don't like
I don't like DM's who hold grudges, if the player has done something well or defeated a challenge easily using their wit, please don't send Tiamat to kill the whole party...
I don't like DM's who cannot listen to players' constructive criticism. I have been a DM/GM for a while now, and I love to hear what my players have to offer so I can be a better storyteller.
