I am curious about how people use devices at conventions and/or other places where WiFi might not be available, or reliable.
Using a phone with data may be fine for a player but not for a DM.
Using a tablet for either a player or DM isn't useful unless you have a tablet with data (and then you;re using your data!).
So, please choose the response that best represents your use case below (whether you're using DDB or something else) at conventions, or other locations where WiFi is not an option.
This is meant to reflect your usage most of the time. It is understood that sometimes you might make a different choice.

"Orcs are savage raiders and pillagers with stooped postures, low foreheads, and piggish faces with prominent lower canines that resemble tusks." MM p245 (original printing) You don't OWN your books on DDB: WotC can change them any time. What do you think will happen when OneD&D comes out?
If internet of any sort isn't available and I need to DM, I'm going to be working from memory, estimation, and/or other people's books. Fortunately, that hasn't happened yet. I can play without internet just fine, though. I can even build a character without internet or borrowed books, but DMing without resources would be distinctly . . . interesting.

Sure, but if you are a DM and don't want to run a game from a phone or tablet, there is no PC version of the app for offline use, and WiFi is frequently not great at cons.
