The 1e version only had a duration of about an hour (6 turns, or 60 minutes), and had a 10' diameter (5' radius) -- as well as taking 3 turns to cast.
The version above is accurate for 2e / 3e version, although they made the 3e bigger and last longer.
None of the 1/2/3e version offered any defensive capabilities.
I never saw the 4e version, so can't speak to it, but the 5e is the first one to include defensive capabilities.
Additionally, earlier versions never had a floor.
In 2e, they introduced Leomund's Secure Shelter. This was a 4th level spell that created an actual building -- a cottage, and was treated as a stone building. It had one door, two windows, and was a single room with a fireplace.
It came with an unseen servant, an alarm spell on the doors and windows, and was pretty much exactly what is described in the suggestion from DrJawa, lol.
(side note -- imo, spells were much, much cooler in older editions)

The 4e version was only ever published in Dragon magazine. It was a ritual (similar to 5e rituals) with an 8 hour duration and a 20' radius (which may have been an editing error), and otherwise identical to 3.5e.
