I'm deciding whether to hold off on getting new books that are nice to have but not necessities at this point if there are changes planned for other books to be updated.
Reading available info online suggests that changes/updates will not be pushed free if you own 5E digital books on D&DB.
I can't imagine any updated products are ever going to not have a charge associated with them. My personal guess is they will not fully update any of the existing products other than the core 3 but instead will come out with a combination of updated information + some new things so they can market to those who both do and do not adopt the 2024/25 core. That is based 0% on anything I have seen from WotC and 100% on what seems logical from a business development standpoint.

I doubt there will be any more updates to the core rules as of now.
The new books will almost certainly be considered separate and new products.
The only other books that have been mentioned to be superceded by future books are Tasha's and Xanathar's. I'm not sure how solid that plan is, but it's been mentioned. The current books should be compatible with the new ones - the only incompatible books will be the PHB, MM and DMG, which will be replaced in autumn this year and spring next year.

I imagine the existing books will be flagged as "Legacy Content" and eventually will not be for sale.
This will let those of us who have books maintain access to them in a proven way and center new buyers on the most updated books, which will become the lingua franca for discussions from now on.
I'm fine with it and will buy the new PHB, DMG, and whatnot without complaint.

The 2024 core books aren't just errata, they are going to be brand new books with new content, new art etc. So you will need to buy them.
If you don't want to do so however, or want to wait and see, we've been promised an updated SRD/Basic; you can play the game just fine with that (even to level 20) for free.
What if I don’t want to change to the new SRD/Basic rules?
Since there is no guarantuee you will still have access to the old SRD/Basic rules when 5e PHB, DMG and MM become legacy conent, I'd suggest buying them so you can keep using the old rules.

That makes no sense, aren’t they free?
Correct, they likely misunderstood you. You can always download the current SRD in case they update it to be in line with the revised 2024 rules. Nothing is stopping you from doing that

You can download the current one in PDF format, or visit an external site that hosts the current one like 5e.d20srd.org, and use that, even if something happens to the DnDBeyond version (though to be clear, we don't yet know whether anything will.)
