Went to grab a few things from The Book of Many Things and couldnt find a way to only purchase the spells, feats, or backgrounds. Has this sort of thing been discontinued?
It's hard to call. I want to say the official WotC books immediately prior still allow it, but I haven't checked so I could be wrong. Now, the partnered content is unlikely to support that option simply because those charges are being split between WotC for hosting them on this site and the producers, so it wouldn't be particularly profitable for either party.
Book of Many Things is a bit of a weird book - there have been production delays with the physical versions, which means Wizards might be more reluctant to allow smaller purchases as they try to recoup some of their investment in the book. Additionally, a number of the items have effects not coded into Beyond, and folks generally get angry if they buy an item, and then 100% of that purchase does not work.
Since it is kind of unusual, it is not a data point we can extrapolate from. The future of piecemeal content will really be made more clear with the upcoming Vecna book, which (unless something odd happens), appears to be a more standard release.
The book of many things is designed to be used with the physical cards (although you could also use a d22. 3rd party books is a ‘no’, but it appears that most other books will continue to be purchasable in bits. They’d be dumb to stop that-I’ve bought a little from most books and no way I’d buy the whole books
