They've said they plan to continue honoring the discounts for existing partial purchases. And I don't think doing so was a problem for them before, it's only gotten dicey now that they removed the option.
My point was, doing it via talking to a human, rather than in an automated way, is horribly inefficient and not the way they would have done it if there had been any significant thought given to the matter. And the problem is that they didn't remove the option from their current store -- they wrote a new store that never had the feature to start with. If they had merely removed the option, it would be trivial to resolve.
Personally, I wet through all the books and purchased all the race options and most of the class and subclass options as well. I bought several of the monster packs from different books as well as several spell lists. A few backgrounds here and there I was interested in and I think I also bought a few feats.
I bought the PHB and I think that is the only full book purchase I made. This change likely marks the end of my spending here, as I don't have any interest in the fluff and fanfare that fills the books, I want the mechanical stuff, as listed in my purchasing. Further, if I am going o purchase something in it's entirety, I will go physical, so when society throws it's next tantrum and something new is offensive, or now taboo, the thing I purchased remains unchanged. All told, the customer focus and consideration I see is falling in pretty large steps and I will be interested to see if this corporate cash vision lasts.

Used it extensively for books since I usually write my own monsters and magic items; so it's mostly just the subclasses, spells, features etc. that Iw as buying.
I have bought a large amount of single content. I did so knowing it would discount the main book price so that I could buy the book when I could afford it. The discounts have disappeared. I am livid.
This is going to cause a resurgence of pirating for people who can't buy the full price of the books, but could afford 1.99.
I always chose to buy new subclasses, magic items, spells and race options independently cause that's all I wanted. I'm not a big lore guy so buying an complete book really didn't make much sense to me.

If i was going to make any purchases at all, it would be with the single purchase options.

i have never used it
i probably never will use it
i see a book that i am remotely interested, even the smallest amount, and i buy the whole thing
that being said, i stand in total support of bringing back individual purchases. it was such a good and unique feature that no one else did.
