Before i put this in as a bug could someone point out where im being a numpty please? created a bunch of 3rd level characters for peeps to use for a campaign a friend is running. created a 2nd cleric 1st wizzie and they have 4 slots at 1st and 2 at 2nd. why the 2 slots at 2nd?
You will have that with multiclassing spellcasters. You may have slots for spells of a level you cannot cast. So those slots can be used to upcast a lower level spell.
Basically, when MC spellcasting classes you ignore the individual class tables and use the MC spell slot table.
If you multiclassed two full casters, then I believe your spell slot progression will proceed the same as a single class full caster. You're just missing out on class features and higher level spells- which is pretty significant "just".
